Exploring Raglan Castle

Walking around Raglan Castle in Monmouthshire in August I could not help but think about all those people who have stepped foot in its grounds before me.

Looking down these corridors you can imagine children playing, the castle’s court dressed in their finery and servants carrying dinner.

As Cadw explains, this castle, commissioned by William Herbert, was built for show rather than battle. It is impressive today but undoubtedly would have been breath-taking in its heyday.
