Embracing change

This blog has been dormant for the last six weeks. The cause of this, to be blunt, is because I have been feeling uninspired. I have experienced a lot of change recently, from a new job to a parting of ways, and it has taken a while to refocus and for inspiration to strike.

A perpetual source of joy in my life is my nephew. He is changing every day, both physically and mentally. He is now a true toddler, enjoying the freedom of walking and imitating a small drunken adult with his jaunty swagger. He has a limited vocabulary but it is growing; he does a fantastic roar when you ask him what a lion says.

‘The only constant is change’

As a colleague recently pointed out, I am a ‘completer-finisher’ type of person. I like to be in control of my life, plan my weekends in advance and think about future holidays. I can be very lazy but I am a perfectionist. I like to have a quiet night in but I am a planner.

Moving forward in my life I am going to enjoy my own company and the company of people who make me happy. I will enjoy existing relationships and have fun building new ones. While one significant person has left my life I have seven new ones, people that I share an office with and who I have already made a connection with.

Things to remember:

  • When life gives you lemons, make lemonade
  • Spring always follows Winter
  • Sometimes when you’re in a dark place you think you’ve been buried, but you’ve actually been planted – Christine Caine
